This article is long and laborious, but to dive down to the depths of Bible prophecy, in order to discover its deep truths, one can’t just skip a pebble across its surface. Many people say they want to study prophecy and unlock its dark secrets, but are unwilling to either invest the time or to go to the trouble to mine its precious ore. Instead, they just want to stand at the entrance to the mine and peek into the diggings brought out by others, while their own hands remain unsoiled and uncalloused. In addition, many refuse to reconsider anything they’ve ever thought or been taught. Having already made up their minds, they approach prophecy with their preconceived ideas and attempt to fit what the Bible says into their beliefs rather than their beliefs into what the Bible says. If your mind is already made up and you refuse to enter the deep shaft of Scripture to see for yourself if your beliefs are more to be desired than pure gold (Psalm 19:10) rather than mere pyrite or fool’s gold, then, this article is definitely not for you. If, however, you would like to be one of the children of Issachar, one that understands the times and knows what ought to be done, then, read on (1 Chronicles 12:32).

I’m going to begin this deep dive into prophecy with three quotes, none of which come from prophecy nor from the Scripture. The first is a quote by Ian Williams Goddard, who said: ”A society whose citizens refuse to see and investigate the facts, who refuse to believe that their government and media will routinely lie to them and fabricate a reality contrary to verifiable facts, is a society that chooses and deserves the police state dictatorship it is going to get.” The second quote is by Albert Einstein, who said: “Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth.” The third quote is by Benjamin Franklin, who said, “Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”  Now, with these three quotes under our belt, we will use it to gird our loins and take off on this excursion into how what’s happening in today’s America was foretold by Scripture long ago.

Like so many things happening in our country and in our world today, the current trial in England over whether or not Julian Assange should be extradited to America provides us with some prophetic insight, though few modern-day saints would ever believe it. Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, who has been charged by our government with multiple crimes for publishing some of our government’s unsettling secrets from classified information, is fighting his extradition. However, our government is arguing for it, in hopes of putting Assange, who is presently being held in London’s Belmarsh Prison, on trial here in America for crimes that carry a total maximum prison sentence of 175 years. According to our government, Assange is a traitor who endangered our national security by divulging some of our government’s unsettling secrets. According to others, he is a hero fighting against the surveillance state.

Like Julian Assange, Edward Snowden, a former CIA employee and government whistleblower, who blew the whistle on our National Security Agency’s unconstitutional surveillance of Americans, is also facing multiple criminal charges brought against him by our federal government, which could land him in prison for the rest of his life. Again, our government claims Snowden is a traitor who endangered our national security by warning Americans that our government was unconstitutionally spying on us. Although not presently in a foreign prison, like Assange, Snowden is in a foreign country, he has been living in Russia, out of the reach of the long arm of Uncle Sam, since 2013.

Now, with the curious cases of Julian Assange and Edward Snowden on our minds, let’s travel in our minds back in time to April 27, 1961. On that night, President John F. Kennedy gave his famous “Secret Society Speech” to the American Newspaper Publishers Association. Granted, the speech was in all likelihood referring primarily to the pervasive and perversive spread of communism during the Cold War, but let’s pretend it was being delivered today and that the subject of the speech was the ever-increasing pervasive and perversive power of our present-day government, which multiple people, not just Julian Assange and Edward Snowden, are warning us about at great cost and consequence to themselves. Here’s an apt and extraordinary excerpt from the speech.

“The very word ‘secrecy’ is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths, and to secret proceedings. We decided long ago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far outweighed the dangers which are cited to justify it. Even today, there is little value in opposing the threat of a closed society by imitating its arbitrary restrictions. Even today, there is little value in insuring the survival of our nation if our traditions do not survive with it. And there is a very grave danger that an announced need for increased security will be seized upon by those anxious to expand its meaning to the very limits of official censorship and concealment. That I do not intend to permit to the extent that it is in my control. And no official of my administration, whether his rank is high or low, civilian or military, should interpret my words here tonight as an excuse to censor the news, to stifle dissent, to cover up our mistakes, or to withhold from the press and the public the facts they deserve to know. But I do ask every publisher, every editor, and every newsman in the nation to reexamine his own standards, and to recognize the nature of our country’s peril…If you are awaiting a finding of ‘clear and present danger,’ then I can only say that the danger has never been more clear and its presence has never been more imminent. It requires a change in outlook, a change in tactics, a change in missions—by the government, by the people, by every businessman or labor leader, and by every newspaper. For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence—on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tight knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific, and political operations. Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed.”

Thirty-one months after making this speech in New York City, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. Many to this day believe that the sentiments he expressed in his “Secret Society Speech” were behind his assassination and that our own government had a hand in it and played a part in it. I’m afraid we’re never know the real truth about Kennedy’s assassination, but in the light of all the unconstitutional illegalities and secret subterfuges that our intelligence agencies have been recently found clearly and unaccountably guilty of, how can anyone dismiss the possibility that our government may have been involved in the Kennedy assassination or that Julian Assange and Edward Snowden may not be the treasonous traitors that our government has made them out to be?

I understand that all of this sounds like some grand government conspiracy out of a Tom Clancy novel, however, I want to propose that it is actually, much to almost everyone’s chagrin, including contemporary Christians, insight into the fulfillment of an end-time prophecy found in Scripture. It is, I believe, all apart of a major piece of the prophetic puzzle that the hand of Divine Providence put in place on 9/11. According to the book of Revelation, the world’s final superpower—MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH—will go up in smoke in a hour, while the whole world witnesses the rising smoke in absolute astonishment and amazement (Revelation 18:1-24). Is this not a perfect description of what happened to America, the world’s only remaining superpower, in a single hour on 9/11? The world watched in astonishment the smoke rising from the Twin Towers, as a smug America, which beforehand had thought itself invulnerable, was brought to its knees by nineteen young Islamic terrorists, armed with nothing but boxcutters.

Many will protest this proposition as untenable, because of our country’s continuance since that day of infamy. However, here’s the salient point they miss: It was in the immediate aftermath of 9/11 that America administered to itself a lethal injection, in an effort to immunize itself from future terrorist attacks. Although proposed for our protection, this poison pill has proved to precipitate the unraveling of our representative republic to the point that we are presently approaching being completely polished off!

Right after 9/11, our government passed the Patriot Act, and unconstitutionally bolstered the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which is once again up for reauthorization before Congress. For the first time in American history, our citizenry voluntarily surrendered a constitutional right and freedom, the right to privacy, to our government, in exchange for our government’s promise to protect us from future terrorist attacks. In other words, we surrendered our right to privacy and submitted to unrestricted government surveillance for the sake of national security. Little did we know that by doing so we were removing the most important barrier preventing the state from usurping its power over our private lives. Ever since, our constitutional rights and freedoms have been continuously encroached upon and eroded by our ever-encroaching government, under the guise of protecting us, not only from terrorists, but from a plethora of other propagated perils as well, such as, climate change, pandemics, misinformation, systemic racism, gun violence, ad infinitum.

As a consequence of the above, we the people, to the detriment and demise of our representative republic, have grown accustomed to surrendering our personal liberties for government promised security. Consider for instance the COVID-19 pandemic, when a paranoid public permitted our government, under the guise of protecting us from a flu-like virus, to literally suspend our Constitution, revoke our constitutional rights and freedoms, lock down our economy, lock us up in our houses, and shutdown our businesses, workplaces, schools and churches. Truly, we have become a nation of sheeple, our government has become tyrannical, and the land of the free and the home of the brave has become nothing more than a faint memory buried beneath the ruins of 9/11’s Ground Zero.

Contrary to popular belief, God is not going to judge our Christ-rejecting and God-forsaking country for its spiritual harlotry—its turning from being the world’s greatest Christian nation to becoming an antichrist nation, which is now trying to stamp out Christianity in its midst. Nor is He going to judge America for its abominations, the fact that we longer export the Gospel to the ends of the earth, but moral degeneracy, such as flying Gay Pride Flags at all of our foreign embassies. Instead, God is already judging America! We’re already under God’s judgement. The die is cast, judgment has come, and we’re done for. We’ve been under God’s judgment since 9/11, when He began the incremental and systematic destruction of our representative republic. Little by little we are being ruined, so that from our ruins, as the book of Revelation once again predicts, the beastly world power of the end-time can rise to lead this fallen world in its final all-out war on God’s chosen and elect people—Jews and Christians (Revelation 17:1-18). According to Jesus, it will be to spare His chosen and elect people from being totally wiped out, as well as the entire population of the earth, that will hasten His return to earth in the near future (Matthew 24:22; Mark 13:20).

Make no mistake about it, America will never be made great again; in fact, America will never even be seen again. It is long gone, and in its place has arisen another America, which not only doesn’t resemble the former America that we knew and loved, but is also short-lived and doomed to swift destruction. From its ruins, the socialist utopians’ long dreamed of New World Order—the biblically predicted beastly end-time world power—will arise. Though I fear it is a most unpopular truth, and even an intolerable one, the truth is our country went up in smoke way back on 9/11. As the smoke now begins to clear we suddenly see ourselves in the perilous times of the last days, as well as in an end-time world possessed with the spirit of antichrist, within which we will soon face end-time tribulation and unprecedented persecution. Not only must we prepare ourselves, our families, and our churches for the evil days ahead, but we must also refuse to hang our heads, but lift them up, for our redemption draweth nigh (Luke 21:28)!
