If Jesus should come today, who will care about the next presidential election or who won the big game last weekend? If Jesus should come today who will care about worldly popularity, position, or possessions? What difference will the size of your bank account make, the luxuriousness of your lifestyle, the make and model of your automobile, or the contents of your jewelry box? Will it matter if you’re dressed in burlap or silk, if you’re living in a stately home or a shack, or if you’re a member of high society or of the common herd? Will that grudge you’ve held on to for so long suddenly be let go of, as something that never really mattered at all? And how about that great cause you’re living for, something like combating climate change, will it prove to have been worth so big of an investment as your life?
