It is popularly believed among today's evangelicals that the 144,000 sealed in Revelation chapter 7 are sealed, not for their protection and preservation until the Second Coming of Christ, as Scripture clearly teaches, but to preach the Gospel in a worldwide revival prior to Christ's return. This revival, according to this popular but unbiblical belief, not only results in a miraculous harvest of souls, represented by the great and innumerable multitude of Revelation chapter 7, but also takes place during a time when the Holy Spirit has supposedly been taken out of the world. How any Christian today can believe such an untenable, not to mention totally unscriptural, end-time theory is beyond me.
